Tiwanaku is an ancient archaeological site located in modern-day Bolivia. It was the capital of a powerful Pre-Columbian civilization that flourished between the years 400 and 1000 AD. The city was built in a valley near Lake Titicaca and at its peak, it is estimated to have had a population of around 40,000 people.
