The best place to go sandboarding in Ica is the Huacachina oasis. It’s an oasis surrounded by sand dunes that are perfect for sandboarding. The dunes are up to 150 meters tall, so you can get some serious speed going down them. The dunes are also well preserved, so you won’t have to worry about any unexpected surprises.

If you’re a beginner, there are plenty of lessons available to help you get started. The instructors will help you learn the basics of sandboarding, such as how to position your body and how to stay in control. If you’re an experienced sandboarder, you’ll find plenty of challenge in Ica. You can try some of the steeper dunes, or take a tour of the area and explore some of the more remote dunes.

Itinerary

Half DaySandboarding Ica Tour

We will pick you up from your hotel in Lima at 8:00 am. After arriving at Ica, our tour will start. First, we will go to the wine cellar and restaurant “El Catador”: The most tourist winery in Ica.

We will visit its facilities to taste its wines, pisco, cachinas, and know the materials that are used for the artisanal elaboration of Piscos and Wines. We will have time to have lunch, however, the lunch is not included in the tour price. Then we’ll go to Ica’s main square to see the Luren Temple Ruins and Luren Walk.

Huacachina Oasis: We’ll see a spectacular panorama with the Huacachina Lagoon encircled by massive dunes, a natural oasis in the heart of the desert surrounded by gorgeous palms.

To round off our full day in Huacachina, we will take a thrilling and entertaining ride on sandcars through the Huacachina desert, where we will practice sandboarding and cross much of the desert by going up and down the dunes.

The Ica desert in Huacachina is one of the most stunning desert landscapes in South America, with wind-formed sand dunes and a beautiful perspective of our Peruvian Andes in the east. Our expert driver will make stops for them to enjoy the scenery and snap photographs.

Then, we’ll take our car to the top of a massive dune, where our instructor will demonstrate you how to sandboard. Finally, we will return to the Huacachina lagoon and, if the weather permits, we will watch the sunset in the desert.

The journey concludes in Ica around 6:30 p.m. Then, we will return to Lima city.
